Learner goals and capabilities

My Digital Video students are capable of storyboarding, pitching, shooting and editing video using standard DSLR cameras and sync-sound recording to help in the formation of thematic short films and social media campaigns. They will also have some experience at this point in the semester with simple graphics overlays and transitions, though this should not be main emphasis of the work (explainer or whiteboard videos not a fit).

Project Examples

Requirements

My intermediate Digital Video students are eager to work with socially driven organizations to help in the creation of time-based media campaigns such as YouTube testimonials/short docs as well as social media content such as reels. Past successful projects have included a short film created to promote awareness of challenges faced by neurodivergent students made in collaboration with an academic coaching company (link) and a series of short interviews of femme-identifying students reflecting on their experience of online harassment made in collaboration with an anti-bullying media startup.
