Looking to elevate your business, and bring it to the next level? Bring on one or more students from Schulich school of Business, York University in the field of Finance, Marketing, Strategy or Technology to be your virtual interns in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the placement period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students are available for at least 240 hours of placement between May and August.

These students are looking for both paid and unpaid internships with a preference for paid experiences. Please indicate in your project submission which you are able to offer.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the internship. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the internship. The student should complete at least 240 hours with your organization by August 30, 2021.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal. marketing

Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Comparison between different investment opportunities.
  • Analysis of financial ratios (operating, profitability and liquidity): benchmarking relatively to the industry, to competitors, to equity indices and to past trends.
  • Forecasting future cash flows.
  • Estimation of the cost of capital.
  • Development of scenarios.
  • Comparison between different investment opportunities.
  • Optimal allocation of resources.
  • Evaluation of overall financial performance.
  • E-Commerce Site Build Using BigCommerce or Other Platform
  • Online Sales and Marketing Strategy
  • Post-COVID Marketing and Business Strategy
  • Market Research on Commercial Fitness Equipment
  • Digital Marketing Strategy

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

At the completion of the Placement the student's supervisor will be asked to fill out an evaluation form.

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope in an appropriate fit for the internship

Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup.

Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students throughout the internship. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact no less than once a week.
