Bring on students from National University to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of a three-month series of capstone courses, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students in the BS in Manufacturing Design Engineering program acquire the theoretical foundations, hands-on experience, and teaming skills required for effective conceptual, logistical, developmental, and interdisciplinary design of complex engineering devices, product life cycles, and engineering systems through integration of state-of-the-art computer-aided tools, concurrent engineering standards, and simulation modeling techniques.
Learners
Deliverables are negotiable and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization. Some examples of final project deliverables might include:
- Written report with findings and recommendations
- Oral presentation
- 3D printed prototypes
- Detailed drawings prepared using SolidWorks
- Product Quality analysis
- Estimated time and costs to build a prototype

Requirements
Students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Combine knowledge and practices needed to work on engineering projects that require innovative and interdisciplinary skills
- Utilize product reliability and design optimization concepts in engineering applications
- Apply state-of-the-art computer-aided engineering tools and engineering graphics techniques and methodologies
- Integrate engineering project management standards for efficient and competitive design of engineering products and processes
- Apply the concepts of engineering experiment design and analysis
- Analyze human factors, ergonomics, and safety issues as part of the requirements for design of engineering systems, products, and services
- Analyze a production problem and design and/or develop a manufacturing system

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address students’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
