Bring on students from University Canada West to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience.
Students in this course are equipped with fundamental economics tools and methods necessary to understand modern business practice. Students will have investigated the two core pillars of economics: microeconomics and macroeconomics while quantitatively building their analytical skills. Microeconomics pertaining to exploring the behaviour of economic units and their interactions with consumers, firms , and government under conditions of scarcity. Macroeconomics pertaining to concepts of national income, economic growth, international trade, inflation, unemployment, aggregate demand, macroeconomic equilibrium, monetary and fiscal stabilization policies, money and the banking system.
Learners
- A 15-minute presentation on recommendations focused on the defined project. More deliverables such as final reports must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the work period.

Project Examples
Requirements
Beginning in July, students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing the dynamic economic environment using economic notions and theories
- Explaining consumer and producer behaviour and economic decision-making of economic units under different market structures
- Describing and interpreting measures of macroeconomic performance including potential efficiencies, government actions and market forces
- Employing economic modeling of contemporary social economic issues to apply macroeconomic data analysis
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available for at least 2 follow-up meetings with the students to monitor progress, clarify doubts, and answer questions.
Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address students’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
