In this course, students will apply theory, concepts, tools and skills learned throughout their Tourism Management degree to a team-based project for your organization. Students will diagnose a real life organizational problem, develop a set of alternative solutions, and make recommendations to you based on a clear rationale. They will then determine appropriate deliverables based on their recommendation to generate for you. The project may include deliverables for one or more functional areas such as strategic planning, finance, marketing, human resources, operations, or technology.
Learners
The final project deliverables might include:
- Presentation #1 will include an in-depth presentation of key findings and recommendations, along with a detailed Analysis and Recommendations Report. Completion of this phase will include a working session to discuss recommendation and confirm final deliverables
- Presentation #2 will highlight the final devlierables and recommendated next steps. This presentation will be supported by a detailed report and deliverable packages.

Project Examples
Requirements
Beginning in September, students in groups of 4-6 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project activities might include but are not limited to:
- Applying strategic thinking as a framework to analyze and diagnose an organizational problem for a tourism business with a clear understanding of the internal and external environments;
- Conducting relevant research and use theoretical concepts to evaluate tourism management situations using experience-based judgment and critical thinking to make effective decisions;
- Depending upon your specific organizational problem, conducting research and applying appropriate tools and frameworks to solve problems in the areas of leadership, communication, finance, technology, marketing and sales, operations and human resources;
- Applying the fundamentals of sustainability to tourism management decisions;
- Evaluating, selecting and using appropriate and effective strategies to work with, lead and manage diverse individuals and groups, leveraging team members’ strengths, mitigating weaknesses, and overcoming team dynamic challenges in a professional manner;
- Analyzing and assessing tourism management situations in order to demonstrate appropriate professional appearance, attitudes and behaviours.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails, phone calls or virtual meetings over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
Be available for a quick phone call or visual meetings with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
