The Building Black Youth Foundation(BBYF)'s Data Research & Content Development Virtual Project

Team size: 5 students 70 hrs/each

Project time length: 7 weeks

Project weekly schedule: 10hrs per week/per student

Project daily schedule: 2 hours per day, following virtual meeting

Job positions: 3 Positions

Research Curator & Content writer: 3 Students

Instructional Learning Designer Job:1 Student

Content Development Project Manager:1 Student

Project goals:

To research, Curate and write content developing reservoirs of data for program use.

Students will be responsible for researching educational data information about specific topics.

To curate educational knowledge and information about Black History.

Project outline:

Each student will be given weekly research and content writing projects amounting to a total of seven projects curating information on a variety of different Black history related topics and subjects.

Each student will be given a research document at the beginning of the week and will have the opportunity to review and ask any questions, during our weekly meeting.

Each student will then be responsible for curating all requested information on the document which will be due by the end of the week by Friday 11:59 p.m. for review by the Project Manager. Deadlines can be extended if needed until Sunday 11:59 p.m. if needed, due to existing workload and any pre-existing circumstances.

SKILLS: communication, resiliency, analytical capabilities

SCOPE:

Students will support our organization's development of educational content to help build learning courses and modules centered around black history.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

  • Researching and curating Black history Knowledge and information.
  • Working with Project Manager to determine what information is to be learned.
  • Managing project success and documenting progress reports
  • Managing students and ensuring completion of work by project deadlines
  • Project manager working directly with Senior project Manager ensuring project goals are met.
  • Ensuring content matches established objectives and Reshaping content for changing needs.
  • Structuring content and activities for optimizing learning.
  • Other duties the student may complete could include:
  • Conduct research and data analysis.
  • Developing entire course content and curriculum.
  • Creating and testing multimedia.
  • Creating student guides and training manuals.
  • Create presentation decks and assist with presentations to key stakeholders.

We will plan to communicate with our virtual intern using these communication tools: Riipen messaging, ZOOM, Email, phone/text, etc.

Mentorship

Students will be supervised during their internship through Zoom and other online work sharing platforms, specifically during working hours. Students will be guided and mentored by our senior project manager along with our student Project Manager as well. They will have access to our Senior project manager Tasha, any time needed during business hours by phone/email and after business hours through email. Students will also have the option of connecting with their student project manager for support during the duration of the internship.

The Building Black Youth Foundation (B.B.Y.F.), is a not for profit children's organization and social enterprise, geared to providing children cultural based learning opportunities and educational support for Black/BIPOC(but not limited to) children/youth and families across Canada. B.B.Y.F. is starting with virtual Early Childhood Development programs, supports for families and learning opportunities specifically geared towards teaching an afrocentric uplifting curriculum, building self worth through learning ancestral and historical knowledge. Our mission at Building Black Youth Foundation(B.B.Y.F.), is to empower our Black/BIPOC(but not limited to) children/youth, help them build their self worth and self belief, through learning uplifting historical, cultural knowledge.
