Our organisation is anticipating a large amount of growth in the next five years. To make sure we continue to operate with a high level of efficiency, we need to have the right people in the right places. With your help, we hope to build the HR department and have structures in place for recruiting, onboarding, payroll & culture.


This will involve several different steps for the students, including:


  • Examine the current onboarding process for new hires to identify what should be included in the onboarding process including forms, documentation and information.
  • Establish a logical structure and order for the onboarding process, divided into “segments” or “modules” and their content.
  • Research platforms or websites to automate the onboarding process.
  • Create a segment specifically introducing new employees to our workplace culture and values.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:


  • Build the HR department in a startup
  • Creating a timeline to mitigate risks and implement change in the HR 
  • Examined the current onboarding process to identify content that should be included.
  • Established a structure for onboarding content .
  • Researched platforms to automate the onboarding process.
  • Created a report with a proposed structure for automated onboarding, and recommendations for which platform we should use.


Bonus steps would include:


  • Build workflows on Notion Software
  • Suggesting feedback mechanisms for job applicants
  • Created a segment that introduces employees to our workplace culture and values.


Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:


  • What forms, documentation, and information should be collected during onboarding?
  • Are there any pain points in our current onboarding process?
  • What is our upfront/ongoing budget for an automation platform?
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
