Positions available: 2 individual students

Our organization needs some video production and editing help! We are looking for someone with video production experience who can help with original content creation for the purposes of promotion and exemplifying our youth programs, as well as post-production on films created by other participants in our programs. This would include collaboration with in-house project managers and post-production managers, and making the best short films possible with the available materials and time limitations.

We hope to work with up to 2 project interns, for 10-15 hours per week for a total of 80 hours.

Deliverables
  • Clear and reliable communications with project lead
  • Independent work from home
  • Editing and post-production using Adobe Premiere Pro (we can provide a Creative Cloud license)
  • Creating high quality draft and final deliverables by agreed upon deadlines.
Mentorship

Students will have one primary supervisor, who will be available by email and phone during regular business hours as needed. Initial onboarding and ongoing weekly meetings will ensure that the student has regular mentorship and support. Finally, the student will be invited to attend optional weekly staff meetings where the entire team meets to track organizational events and projects and troubleshoot as a group.

Reel Youth is a media empowerment project of MakeWay Charitable Society that delivers community development programming to youth and adults across Canada and internationally. Film production and distribution programs are designed to create positive change in young people's lives through technical skill building, leadership training, creative collaboration with peers and mentors, and increased connection to community resources.

Our award winning programs support participants to create media about issues they care about as they gain tangible media production and leadership skills. Programs are as much about film making as building personal resiliency in marginalized youth to overcome challenges, be successful, and inspire those around them.
