business objectives web content accessibility guidelines application development style guides breakpoint content creation communication user experience (ux) design user interface (ui) design hypertext markup language (html)Our company would like a re-design of our current website to become more competitive in the marketplace while utilizing our recent corporate rebrand.
We would like a group of students to design a new corporate website to help with branding, sales and content creation including blog writing. We have an existing and new style guide to use as a starting point for the site design.
It is important to us to be viewed as a step above our competitors. Having been in business since 2003, we have MANY years of experience in web and application development. The primary result and goal is a site that is seen as top-of-class, clean, clear, concise and professional.
We would like the students to focus on the following tasks to ensure that our expectations are met:
- Conduct background research on competitors in our space. We want to know where we stand and how we can stand above.
- Build a logical layout of main sections with submenus that are succinct. Cut out any fluff and communicate clearly our services, mission and provide succinct call(s) to action.
- Use modern tools such as Figma for wire framing and design.
- Convert the designs into fully accessible (WCAG) HTML/CSS files as Mobile First.
We expect students to develop a firm grasp of our business objectives including, but not limited to:
- where we fit in the marketplace
- how we differ from our competitors and how we communicate these differences
- what existing tools we can leverage to increase brand awareness
Students will provide full screens in both mobile and desktop views for various breakpoints in Figma for our development team to follow.
We will be ready and available to answer any questions throughout the engagement including, but not limited to:
- Current services offered
- Industry standard design tools and applications
- Any sort of branding or styling advice (we have an existing style guide which is to be used as the basis for the design)
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter
