Details

Margins to Mainstream is a radical wealth creation concept adapted by Firestarter IDEAS from the traditional community savings programs of immigrant women. The concept was born out of a realization that women are not fully participating in the economy and are disproportionately represented in informal economic activities. It is a platform where women pool their resources and establish profitable entities in Canada and abroad. Firestarter is seeking to apply a more scientific method of operating the Margins to Mainstream business model so that it can be replicated in Canada, within NGO sector and globally. Areas of focus will include documenting the history of Su Su or ROSCA, identifying possible new structure compatible with Canadian banking systems, researching group training content, develop group performance measurement etc. We would like our assigned intern(s) to preform a comprehensive analysis of our business model and contribute to reviewing the business plan.

Deliverables

- Conduct research on Su Su groups in Canada

- Literature review of immigrant women entrepreneurs in Canada

- Review practices and performance of margins to Mainstream pilot groups to identify enablers and impediments

- Specifically look into greater (or neater) fit into banking system

- Identify core competencies required for leadership and governance of the legal and formal margins to mainstream entities

- Identify the revenue opportunities for Firestarter (where is the money for Firestarter in doing all this work? )

- Contribution to review (or re-do) of current business plan
