Details

The goal of this project is to create a carbon calculator for Carbon Floor that will calculate the environmental impact in terms of carbon dioxide equivalents. The calculator will cover all three scopes of GHG emissions (Scope-1, Scope-2, and Scope-3) and will include different options for unit selections of different activities. The calculator will be embedded in our website and designed/styled according to our website design.

Deliverables

The main tasks for this project include:

- Developing individual/household, business/company, event, datacenter, NFT, agriculture, and product carbon footprint calculators.

- Creating a customized carbon footprint calculator.

- Utilizing emission factors databases such as IEA, EPA, IPCC, GHG Protocol, DEFRA, and other authentic and scientific sources.

- Designing/styling the calculator according to our website design.

Final deliverables should include:

- All source code.

- A written report explaining the design process and outcomes.

Mentorship

An opportunity to work with a stellar team with international experience in Environment, climate, Finance, sustainability, and business, which includes experience working in the Canadian Armed Forces, a Chartered Accountant, and an MBA from the USA. We are willing to provide a structured learning experience, coaching wherever necessary, and giving recommendations whenever they need one, two, or three.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions or provide additional information. Minimum of 2-4 interactions with each student group leader (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project). Let the students/instructor know if you will be away for an extended time (e.g., vacation).

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course. Advise the instructor if students will be required to sign an NDA prior to beginning the project.

To provide efficiency in the information-sharing process, 2 - 3 web conferences may be scheduled in advance at appropriate intervals. The Instructor may ask for participation in an Instructor-led webinar session for students at the beginning of the project by providing an overview of your organization, project, and desired/expected outcomes.

Share feedback and recommendations about the project deliverables with the students and instructor.
