target audience sales prospecting media relations press releases information technology salesWe are growing our business by developing a suite of educational workbooks (both paperback and digital). We plan to offer associations, governing bodies, and government oversight organizations a discount for their members. In addition, we will be sending out a press release. Accordingly, the project's main goal is to develop a database/Excel sheet/Word chart of prospects for us to (1) consider offering our discount promotion and (2) send our press release.
To achieve the project goal, students will answer the following questions by developing a database/Excel sheet/Word chart: Which associations, governing bodies, and government oversight organizations exist in Canada at the national and provincial levels regarding the following target audiences?
(i) Healthcare sector: for example, Health Canada
(ii) Financial sector: for example, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada
(iii) Human Resources: for example, Human Resources Professional Association
(iv) Technical (like information technology and engineering): for example, Canadian Society of Professional Engineers
(v) Graphic Designers: for example, Association of Registered Graphic Designers
(vi) Writers: for example, International Association of Business Communicators
(vii) Other: We have other target audiences if time permits.
For each sales prospect, the database should include information such as, media relations contact information, and other organizational contact information (to be determined).
Students will connect directly with the employer throughout the project via email, phone, and/or zoom as often as they like.
Also, please note: although we have indicated a timeline with start and finish dates, we are flexible. If students can let us know the timeline that works for them, we can likely adjust the dates.
About the company
Using plain language writing and editing, we make written information go from complex to clear without sacrificing creativity. Why? Because regardless of literacy level, education, ethnicity, and cognitive ability, everyone has the right to inclusive, accessible, and transparent information. Clear information is a civil right—we want to ensure people can exercise this right so that they can lead better lives.
Social equity is at the heart of plain language writing, so it is at the heart of our writing services. Whether hard copy or online, we make information easy to read, understand, and use. We develop everything from “How to” information for the public, patient and family education, thought leadership pieces, employee communications, marketing materials, and business-to-business content like white papers and case studies.
