Within this clinical transformation project are a number of deliverables, aligning with the Model of Care (ensuring we have the right staff, providing the right care, at the right time) or the 6 Core Strategies (reducing incidents resulting in restraints and seclusions). This project will have a significant impact across the hospital on the day-to-day experience of both patients and staff, while also improving organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
A student joining the MoC6 team for their capstone project may have the opportunity to contribute to and develop out a number of different deliverables. Options include:
1) developing an evidence-informed business case for a Recovery College to do patient co-led learning and skills development
2) creating a sustainable implementation plan for patient and staff debriefing, and supporting the roll-out and evaluation
of these initiatives
3) creating a plan to improve the performance of Seclusion Relief Teams
4) leading an evaluation of the Clinical Mentorship training program; or 5) designing one or more modules for the Waypoint Core Curriculum (mental health training to be provided to all Waypoint staff).
A student will have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Most of their work can be remote, but some time should be spent on-site, regardless of the deliverable. Depending on the interests of the student, they will have the opportunity to work closely with different teams across the hospital, including: Clinical Operations, Professional Practice, Organizational Development, Data Analytics, Research, Finance, and the Patient/Client & Family Council.
