Details

Ptarium is committed to leveraging the potential of plastic recycling and 3D printing to create economic opportunities in lower-income communities in Southern Africa. The project aims to develop a sustainable model that transforms plastic waste into valuable products using 3D printing technology. By doing so, Ptarium seeks to address environmental concerns while simultaneously providing a source of income and skill development for local residents. The project will focus on understanding the local context, identifying viable products that can be produced from recycled plastics, and creating a framework for community engagement and education. Learners will apply their knowledge of sustainable practices, materials science, and community development to design a comprehensive plan that Ptarium can implement.

Deliverables

The project deliverables will include a detailed report outlining the proposed model for plastic recycling and 3D printing in the target communities. This report will cover the identification of suitable products, a step-by-step process for recycling and production, and strategies for community involvement and training. Additionally, learners will create a presentation summarizing their findings and recommendations, which Ptarium can use to engage stakeholders and potential partners.
