Details

We are hosting a national youth climate change conference and to be truly national we need to be accessible to the Francophone community in Canada! Our conference follows a U.N framework called LCOY. The purpose of LCOY is to gather youth and youth organizations in a country to talk about climate change issues relevant to their country. The issues and perspectives that are shared during the conference are taken and turned into a policy document, demanding decision makers take action. This project will help us translate translate communication material (e.g. our social media, website, print material) and the policy document into French and help us invite French-Canadian youth to our conference (via email outreach).

Deliverables

Before the Conference:

Translate the already created communication material from English into French

Help send emails to Francophone schools and organizations to invite youth to attend the conference

During the conference:

TBD

After the conference:

Translate the completed policy document into French

Mentorship

The role will have direct interaction with the lead conference youth organizer with, at minimum, bi-weekly check-ins, the opportunity to draft plans as a team, get feedback through every stage of the process, and an opportunity to reflect and learn lessons through the project. Students will receive mentorship in managing large-scale projects and operating in a work-like environment.
