We have partnered with AME Roundup - One of Canada’s largest Mining Conventions where people come to learn about mining and mineral exploration companies. We have been tasked to provide AMEBC with an interactive mining and exploration project map of attending companies. The goal is to build out a comprehensive database of projects based on location and include relevant project details (ownership, stage, commodities) and summaries where available. This map will allow users to spatially reference project locations, and gather company supplied information as it relates to their projects. 

Tasks include:

·      Locating and creating project boundaries and/or point locations

·      Adding projects to our platform

·      Adding project summaries to relevant projects

·      Creating and ensuring attendees list is up to date and changes are monitored

·      Ensuring all projects are saved in WGS84 datum

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

·      Create a working list of companies attending AME Roundup as reflected on their website, and periodically monitor for updates

·      Download relevant claims packages, where available, to create project polygons in Canada and Australia, ensuring latest claims are used

·      Create project point locations for projects outside of Canada and Australia, using project maps or technical reports as reference material

o  Bonus: Finding relevant claims polygons for countries outside of Canada and Australia resulting in project polygons being created for these locations

·      Gather information from attendee websites to add to project summaries

Final deliverables should include

·      Organized file structure that includes all found project polygons/points

·      Organized file structure that includes all downloaded claims packages

·      Working spreadsheet outlining:

o  Attending companies

o  Company projects

o  Comments section

§ Has project been added to the Mining Hub system

§ Has summary been added to project, etc.

·      Final list of attendees added to our platform

·      Presentation of how tasks were approached, how monitoring occurred

How will you support learners in completing the project?

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

·      How to add projects and their summaries to our system

·      How to locate Canadian and Australian claims

·      How to determine if data is useful to accurately locate and place projects

·      How to create and maintain the list of companies that will appear on the interactive AME Roundup map through our backend

·      How to determine the stage of the project and the priority commodities associated with projects

·      Any other questions students may encounter
