Project Description and Scope
Introduction
The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping promote, conduct, and survey a series of events to help systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services. In particular, we want individuals to help conduct a weeklong series of events to explore and promote Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) in the BIE program for the classes of 2024 and 2025. Furthermore, after this series is concluded, the team will be looking at how this event can continue in the future and be integrated into curriculum and UBC as a community.
Students will have the opportunity to:
· Host a week-long event for the BIE Class of 2024 and 2025 unpacking issues of inclusivity such as: ageism, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental and physical disabilities, racism, sexism, Truth and Reconciliation, and other forms of discrimination in the workplace and in today’s world
· Conduct a pre and post-event survey for attendees to assess attitudes and supports within the BIE program pertaining to DEI
· Collaborate with BIE professors, administrators, faculty, staff, and students to integrate DEI practices into BIE student life with aid from report produced from DEI Long Term Growth Plan (May-Jun 21’)
· Consult with leaders of DEI clubs and organizations on campus with the objective of centralizing DEI voices to increase the strength and effectiveness of campus-wide action
· Work with the Career Centre to establish supports based on previous student surveys to promote DEI within the Centre and continue the dialogue around DEI

· You are excited about conducting, surveying and analyzing events about DEI that will impact your peers and community
· You are passionate about the future and bigger picture of DEI in the VSE, BIE, and UBC community
· You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEI
Qualifications:
· Excellent oral communication and leadership skills
· Ability to research, survey, and consolidate and analyze data
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to analyze and present findings
· Self-motivated and driven with event operations experience
· Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism in communicating with professors, faculty, staff, students, and the Career Centre
· Previous experience working with diversity, equity, and inclusion preferred
Student will receive:
- Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings
- Constant feedback on operations
- Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
