Details

Kat Innovation is seeking a team of mechanical engineering students to design and analyze a critical mechanical component for our new exercise equipment product line. This project offers students valuable hands-on experience in translating theoretical knowledge into practical solutions. The chosen component will play a key role in our product, requiring meticulous design, material selection, and stress analysis. Students will use CAD software for detailed design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools for stress testing, aiming to develop a component that meets performance specifications while being cost-effective and manufacturable.

Key tasks include:

- Material Research and Selection: Identify and choose suitable materials for the component.

- Detailed CAD Design: Create comprehensive CAD models of the component.

- FEA Testing: Perform stress analysis to ensure the component can handle operational stresses.

- Iterative Design Improvements: Refine the design based on analysis results to enhance performance and manufacturability.

Deliverables

The deliverables for this project will include a comprehensive design report and a presentation. The design report should detail the design process, material selection, CAD models, and FEA results. The presentation will summarize the project findings and demonstrate the functionality and reliability of the designed component.

Specific deliverables include:

- A detailed CAD model of the mechanical component.

- A material selection report.

- FEA results and analysis.

- A final design report compiling all findings.

- A presentation summarizing the project outcomes.
