Do you think space is the next frontier? We do! Wyvern is a space technology company that is launching high-tech satellites to image the earth. Our cube satellites will have proprietary deployable optics, which are essentially full-size telescopes that unfold once they are orbiting in space. This means that we can launch satellites with high-resolution at 1/1000th the cost of a regular satellite.
Working with the Wyvern team means that you are:
- Working with a startup that is really excited about the future of space technology;
- Making a significant contribution to our team as we collectively work to achieve traction and scale;
- Interested in the ways that Wyvern can connect with prospective clients and partners through an international events marketing strategy - ie. trade shows, conferences, and trade missions.
KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET:
Wyvern is selling satellite imagery to customers from around the world. As borders open up over the course of the next 15 months, we need to be where our customers are.
This project will help to develop several critical parts of our events-based marketing strategy. It will be made up of three phases which will run consecutively:
1. Perform a discovery with the Wyvern team to understand the business and the customers we are pursuing. In advance of this meeting, Wyvern will supply the Intrapreneurs with a business plan, an overview of work done to date, and an introduction to the team.
2. Compile a comprehensive list of events which align to our strategy across multiple customer/industry sectors. This will be done by:
a) Completing a fill-in-the-blank spreadsheet which will help us track all of your findings. Our team of intrapreneurs will likely be split up so that each individual can focus on a specific sector type (Space, Agriculture, Aquatic, Forestry, Mining, Oil & Gas, Sustainability, Defense, Earth Observation, Other).
b) Reporting on dates, locations, websites, exhibit/speaker/attendance details, deadlines, and collecting per person ticket costs.
3. Wyvern team members work with the intrapreneurs to prioritize a list of 'high priority' events that we intend to attend.
4. To develop an events marketing strategy for each event sector type (Space, Agriculture, Aquatic, Forestry, Mining, Oil & Gas, Sustainability, Defense, Earth Observation, Other).
a) To work with Wyvern to understand each customer type;
b) To develop a ‘core’ strategy
c) To identify individual sectoral strategies that will enhance the core strategy. For example, are then unique approaches for agriculture versus defense?
5. To assist in the development of an exhibit plan, which may include:
a) Researching exhibit booth best practices and providing recommendations;
b) Advising on how to tell the Wyvern story through brand assets;
c) Building a connected digital strategy for each event (such as website landing pages and social media).

Please note appropriate projects can accommodate most students, regardless of field of study or experience. We may not be able to fill these roles exactly.
This project is ideally suited for a team of students who:
- Have an interest in marketing and business development.
- Have internet research skills such that they can compile a list of events through appropriate search criteria.
FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET:
- Develop a list of suitable trade events.
- Develop an event marketing strategy based on sector type.
- Develop an exhibit plan for how the Wyvern booth can share our value proposition effectively.
