We want to build a story team for CICOLAB. This is a group that helps brilliant big systems thinkers to define their personal brand, and also helps them to explain their big ideas in ways that other can understand.

For the personal brand side:

This is what success looks like: https://wwlw.vincentarena.com/. Vincent is the only one of our members that has a concise personal brand that expresses clearly what he does. You need not actually set up websites or do graphics (unless you have the ability to do that), but rather create a personal story for someone that explains their uniqueness. Most of our members really struggle to express who we are and what we want to do. We want you to help other people in our group achieve such clarity. We have ideas on how to do this (for example, you can start with watching a person's "circle appreciation profile" here, which will give you rich information on the person's role within CICOLAB), but we want you, as a group, to create a sort of rhythm so that you can start cranking out successful identifies faster, with a repeatable methodology. We are not just interested in how to do personal branding on a one-by-one basis, but how to do it on a meta-level. That means that we need your help creating a process for doing this, so that another story team can come along after you and follow the guidelines that you set. You will make sure that each of our members has a clear story, and that this is expressed in their presence online, like on their LinkedIn profile or on their CV.

For each person's "big idea."

Most of our members have some big project that they are working on, which they take an inordinate amount of time to explain, because generally our members work on things that are very complex. They will come to you, the Story Crew, to help them explain their work in ways that normal people can understand. You will conduct a long interview with them, and then produce materials that help explain what they are talking about. Generally, it would be good to start small, with various social media posts, to test different ways of framing and see what people actually respond to. Then, you might produce something a little bit bigger, such as a slide deck. Then, help them write concise papers on their work that they can use to apply for grants.

You will work with one person at a time, and spend the amount of time needed to help that person. Then you will move on to the next person. CICOLAB as a group will give you feedback on your work.

Mentorship

We are all about collective intelligence and peered production processes, which means we are uninterested in micromanaging your work. We will give you what we hope are clear guidelines for what we expect from you, and then act as mentors to help you when you are stuck. But this process is more about you trying out or methodology, adding to it from your personal knowledge bank, and then advising us on how we can be better. Most of the feedback you will receive will be from your peers and your "clients."
