Background

The Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women has been educating women business owners in Afghanistan and Rwanda for the past 16 years through our PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS (PTB) program. More than 1,000 women have graduated from this program. And while we've seen success in terms of the number of direct beneficiaries (graduates), we have not invested efforts into assessing the longer-term impact of this program on these women's businesses.

We have asked the graduates to self-report on a number of quantitative and qualitative aspects of their business, but we have not had a systematic way of collecting or verifying data to assess the impact of our program.

Objective

To develop and implement a M&E strategy that will allow us to systematically collect and analyze data to assess the impact of our PTB program on women business owners, their businesses, and their local economy.

Deliverables

This project will involve:

  • Understanding the PTB program and IEEW's overall goals
  • Assist IEEW is developing a theory of change
  • Determining quantitative and qualitative indicators of success
  • Designing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for IEEW to use going forward
  • Developing surveys and questionnaires
  • Developing a data collection plan to be implemented by IEEW
  • Supporting IEEW in initial outreach to graduates
Mentorship

A team member will be available to provide an introduction and overview of the project. Weekly meetings can be scheduled, and ongoing communication via email or phone will be available. We will give you access to organizational assets to support this project, such as personnel, impact reports, surveys, and more.
