Details

We are growing our business by developing a suite of educational workbooks (both paperback and digital). The problem students will solve is how to sell our workbooks via online bookstores around the world, such as Amazon, Chapters Indigo, Barnes & Noble, Kindle Unlimited, etc.

Accordingly, the main goal is for the students to educate us on how print-on-demand printers and online bookstores work. By the end of the project, students will provide us with a report that explains this, and that includes their recommendations for selling our workbooks via online bookstores.

Deliverables

We would like the report to answer questions such as:

1) What are all of the potential distribution channels for online book sales (e.g., Amazon, Chapters Indigo, Barnes & Noble, Kindle Unlimited).

2) What is the cost/benefit of each channel (e.g., costs, referral fees)?

3) What are the product specifications and requirements for each channel that may influence product development re: (i) print-on-demand paperbacks and (ii) ebooks (e.g., Kindle, Kobo, Nook and through iBooks).

4) How does print-on-demand work (e.g., low quantities, printers like Lightening Source fulfill online Amazon sales by shipping the book with an Amazon label).

5) What print-on-demand printers exist and what are the pros/cons of each?

6) Based on #1 - #5 above, which online bookstores do you recommend we consider selling through and which print-on-demand printer should we consider using?

7) Based on your recommendation in #6 above, what step-by-step process should we follow to sell via online bookstores?

Mentorship

Students will connect directly with the employer throughout the project via email, phone, and/or zoom as often as they like.

Also, please note: although we have indicated a timeline with start and finish dates, we are flexible. If students can let us know the timeline that works for them, we can likely adjust the dates.
