MacEwan University is seeking to partner with organizations that have a need for global logistics management and supply chain expertise. This course will provide students with an opportunity to apply the different skills and knowledge they have learned throughout the Global Logistics Management Professional Development Certificate program, in a real-world setting .The sponsor also has the benefit of helping students learn more about their industry and Canadian workplace culture.

Working in pre-assigned teams, students will deliver a set of standard global logistic management deliverables, as well as specific deliverables outlined by the partner agency to help organizations deliver on their operational objectives. Teams will compete to deliver the best product for the same project. Several teams of 5 to 6 students will work on the project so the sponsor will receive multiple sets of recommendations.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student team should complete a minimum of 35 hours of work per student with your organization. Students will be expected to deliver a set of standard global logistic management deliverables, as well as specific deliverables outlined by the partner agency, including but not limited to:

· Complete a feasibility assessment

· Create a project plan

· Collect Data

· Complete analysis

· Develop Recommendations

Requirements

Students will prepare a project covering one or more of the following topics:

1) Supplier management

2) Inventory management

3) Forecasting

4) Transportation

5) Warehouse layout and function

6) Warehouse location

7) Packaging

8) Supply chain risk


Examples of previous projects:

· Analyze inventory levels and inventory management process for a franchise of a national coffee chain. Recommend improvements to their inventory management process and store room layout.

· Analyze vehicle usage and vehicle management process for a charity with a fleet of 6 vehicles. Provide recommendations to improve the management of the fleet and vehicle availability.

· Analyze potential locations for an organization to add an additional location outside of Edmonton. Provide a summary of location requirements as well as recommending Alberta cities to expand into.

· Analyze supply chain risk for an oilfield manufacture. Provide recommendations for reducing current risk as well as recommendations for setting up a supply chain risk management process.

· Analyze packaging options for a new product
