Working within communities, large and small, is an essential aspect of becoming a successful recreation professional. In this course, students are introduced to the concept, history, and models of community development. The students will also have gained knowledge of various levels of government, trends, and issues, strategic planning, facilitation, and fundraising. Georgian College's second-year Community Development students are ready to support your community change activities.

Project Examples

Requirements

Community development is a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. Students in teams of 4-5 will work with your community to research a problem of your choosing and provide insightful recommendations.

Examples of projects would include:

  • Community-Based Research
