This work placement allows students to put their theoretical skills into practice within your company. It constitutes a structured period of work-based learning which has been shown to help undergraduate students develop a wide range of technical work-related skills such as Network design and configuration, Penetration testing, system analysis, Data design, full-stack development, app development, Intranet system development, writing e-documentation and system testing. In addition, students are given the opportunity to develop their professional competence in a working environment, benefiting from mentoring and support from experienced professionals.

Students are available for up to 110 hours starting November till the end of January 2021. This is an unpaid for-credit experience.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students individually or in groups of up to 5 can work in a wide range of computing topics including; Cyber Security, IT Networking, Database Creation/Management, Data Analytics, IT-related documentation, Web Design, and Software Engineering. Tasks will be under the supervision of an academic advisor. The advisor is a designated member of staff at our university who will support our students in the tasks to be done.

Students can work with the following:

  • Database creation - SQL Server and Oracle
  • Data Analytics with advanced mathematics and statistics
  • Web Technologies - HTML, JQuery, Javascript, Bootstrap
  • Pen Testing ... and Documentation
  • Programming with Java, C Sharp, PHP, Python

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Simple evaluation and feedback to each student at the end of the placement period with a short google feedback form.

Sign a learning agreement form to confirm that they are in a working partnership with London Met students.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic queries over the duration of the project to address student's questions.

Be available for a quick video call with the London Met team to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
