Background:

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) and the Thunder Athletics & Recreation department are proud members of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Thunder Athletics takes pride in promoting academic and athletic success, event hosting, and servicing thousands of students annually.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics & Recreation, the successful candidate will be a results oriented team player with a positive can-do attitude. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the organization, development and implementation of a post-secondary Athletics & Recreation program that abides by the institution and the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) codes of ethics.

Project Overview:

Thunder Athletics is always seeking innovative ways to effectively deliver Athletics and Recreation to the students, staff, and community stakeholders of Concordia University of Edmonton. The Athletics Research Project Coordinator position will entail extensive research, data collection and analysis to review current operations of the department and to explore new opportunities in the marketplace.

Responsibilities Will Include:

· Research market data across the ACAC and CCAA.

· Research innovative programming to assist with event planning for the 2021-22 season.

· Collect and analysis Thunder Athletics social media data.

· Conduct a review of policy and procedures.

· Conduct research to develop procedures for the Thunder Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (TSAAC).

Project Timeline:

This project will be completed over the course of 80 hours during the months of May to August 2021.

Mentorship

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Athletics & Recreation, Joel Mrak, who oversees all operations of the department.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the Athletics Program and Sport Information Coordinator, Nathaniel MacLellan, and will sit in on all bi-weekly department meetings to provide updates on projects and request support as needed.
