Details

Nelion Strategy was started in response to the inequitable impact that Covid is having on marginalized communities in Canada.

We have received funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada to explore use of whatsapp business to increase COVID vaccine confidence in the East African communities living in Toronto. We have worked with storytellers out of Kenya to develop a character called "Auntie Betty" who will hold the message and communicate with the community.

In collaboration with key contacts at our organization, students will design and carry out the following activities

  • Design a whatsapp business application to allow for 2 way communication between the Swahili speaking Toronto community and "Auntie Betty".
  • Create website as companion to the whatsapp application. Will also act as a manual for agencies who want to replicate this project.
