plant pathology biochemical assays research market researchTo complete this project, the learner will first research 2 local producers that have problems with plant diseases. They will then do market research on these diseases to ensure that an assay for them is commercially viable. They will then take the Pathobox out to these producers, demonstrate it, and return the results.
- The student will find producers dealing with plant pathogens that are willing to have a demonstration. This will take ~20 hours.
- The student will ensure that the assays to detect the diseases are commercially viable. This will take ~30 hours and will result in a commercial analysis of the crop/pathogen.
- The student will demonstrate the PathoBox assay(s) for their producers. This will take ~10 hours.
The student will have access to our past disease test results and market research. They will also have access to the Pathoscan staff to ask questions to. Lastly, training on how to use the Pathobox, along with the necessary reagents, will be provided.
