Details

The main goal for the project is to utilize a prototype kit to test crops for diseases in the late season. This will involve several different steps for the team, including:

- Understanding the functionality and limitations of the prototype kit.

- Testing the prototype kit on a variety of crops to identify diseases.

- Analyzing the data collected from the prototype kit to determine the effectiveness of disease detection.

- Developing a report on the findings and recommendations for further improvements.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, the team should complete the following tasks:

- Work with local producers to test the prototype kit on at least 5 different types of crops.

- Collect and analyze data on disease detection rates and accuracy.

- Develop a report outlining the effectiveness of the prototype kit and recommendations for improvements.

Final deliverables should include:

- A comprehensive report detailing the findings and recommendations.

- Any data collected during the testing phase.

- Recommendations for improvements to the prototype kit.

Mentorship

The student will have the opportunity to work in person in our lab. All reagents required will be provided. They will also get to go into the field and work directly with clients. This will be facilitated by the company, who will provide training and will ensure the learner has a safe and effective work environment.
