Welcome to Buyer Folio, your ultimate companion in the realm of home co-ownership. We’re more than just an app; we’re your personal matchmaker, bridging the gap between co-buyers with shared interests. Our state-of-the-art algorithm delves into each user’s distinctive profile, taking into account key factors such as location, budget, preferred amenities, and personal style. This process enables us to curate a bespoke selection of homes that align seamlessly with our users’ preferences.

Our mission is to continually enhance our app. We’re currently extending an invitation to students who can assist us in conducting comprehensive usability tests on our app. This role provides an opportunity to interact closely with our customers, gathering priceless feedback that will shape the future of our application. By participating in these tests, students will be at the forefront of our efforts to refine and perfect our application.

Here’s a detailed look at what our ideal match (student) would undertake:

  • Conduct an in-depth exploration into the profiles and preferences of Canadians aged 18 and above who co-own their homes with someone other than their spouse. This involves understanding their motivations, needs, and challenges in the co-ownership landscape.
  • Initiate contact with customers, establishing a rapport and scheduling interviews. This step is crucial in building trust and ensuring open and honest feedback.
  • Acquaint themselves with the test tasks that they’ll be executing with the customers. This involves understanding the objectives of each task and the expected outcomes.
  • Facilitate the usability tests remotely, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for the customers. Following the tests, they will express gratitude to the customers for their invaluable time and input.
  • Analyze and report the data and results of the tests. This involves interpreting the findings, identifying trends, and drawing conclusions that will inform our app development strategy.
  • Optionally, they may suggest improvements to the app based on the findings. This could involve proposing changes to the user interface, functionality, content, or any other aspect that could enhance the user experience.

Swipe right on this opportunity and let’s revolutionize the world of home co-ownership together!

Deliverables

Upon the completion of the project, students are expected to exhibit the following:

  • An in-depth understanding of why Canadian co-owners often point to a lack of housing affordability as a significant factor influencing their decision to co-purchase a property. This involves exploring the economic conditions, housing market trends, and personal financial circumstances that lead individuals to consider co-ownership as a viable option.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the various factors that influence app usability testing. This includes, but is not limited to, user interface design, user experience, functionality, performance, compatibility, and security. Students should be able to identify and explain how these factors contribute to the overall user experience and satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in our usability testing procedure. Students should be familiar with the entire process, from planning and designing the tests, recruiting participants, conducting the tests, to analyzing and reporting the results.
  • The ability to analyze usability testing results. This involves interpreting the data collected from the tests, identifying patterns and trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions that can inform future design and development decisions.

As an added bonus, students could also undertake the following tasks:

  • Proposing improvements for our website based on the findings from the usability tests. This could involve suggesting changes to the layout, navigation, content, or any other aspect of the website that could enhance the user experience.

The final deliverables for the project should include:

  • A comprehensive final report that details the findings from the usability tests, the analysis of the results, and any recommendations for improvements. The report should be well-structured, clear, and concise, making it easy for stakeholders to understand the key findings and takeaways.
  • A 10-minute presentation that summarizes the key points from the report. The presentation should be engaging and informative, effectively communicating the main findings and recommendations to the audience.

Mentorship

Students will have the opportunity to engage directly with us for guidance and mentorship throughout the duration of the project. This direct line of communication will enable us to provide comprehensive support and insights on a variety of topics, including:

  1. Our Application, Products, and Services: We can provide detailed explanations about the functionality, benefits, and usage of our application, as well as our range of products and services. This will help students understand how our solutions can meet the needs of users and how they stand out in the market.
  2. Understanding of Our App Features: We can share our current knowledge and understanding of the features of our application. This includes how each feature works, its purpose, and the value it brings to our users. This will give students a deeper understanding of our application and its capabilities.
  3. Input on Choices, Problems, or Other Encounters: We are available to provide input and advice on any choices the students need to make, problems they may encounter, or any other issues that may arise during the project. Our experience and expertise can provide valuable insights that can help students navigate challenges and make informed decisions.
  • By connecting directly with us, students will have a rich resource to tap into, which can greatly enhance their learning experience and the success of the project.
