I have been with Cafe Etico for just over a year. It is position that comes with many challenges and I still have a lot to learn but its mandate to reinvest 100% of its profits into the solidarity work of CoDevelopment Canada and help fund organizations and people working towards equality and a better life makes those challenges endurable. I am grateful to have this opportunity to work with students who I expect I'll learn a lot from.
I have a BA from UBC specializing in Spanish and Latin American Studies. Professionally, I have a varied background having worked in customer service in the hospitality and wine industries. I have been part of the collective that produces the bilingual radio program 'America Latina al Dia' on Vancouver Co-op Radio for the past 8 years and developed a passion for the pursuit of equality and social justice and am committed to providing a space for people whose voices aren’t heard in mainstream media to be able to share their stories and perspectives.

Marketing & Communications Strategies for a Social Enterprise
Cafe Etico would like to develop a marketing/communications plan. As a small social enterprise with limited resources (staffing, knowledge, funds, etc.) we do experience some difficulties producing content and maintaining an online presence as those tasks can be challenging and time consuming. We hope that students will keep in mind the limitations of the business, (budget and other constraints) to ensure these recommendations are realistic and actionable. We are open to short term and long term recommendations. Project Goals: To develop or help to create the skeleton of a marketing/communications plan. Make recommendations for mapping our operational processes. Make social media campaign recommendations. Recommend improvements to optimize our organization. Look at the data from the results of Facebook, Twitter and Mailchimp reports and design a template for interpreting an disseminating the information. Review email practices and analyze for improvements. Online store analysis, promotions, etc. Other operational/marketing suggestions or recommendations that come out of the student's work. We hope to implement changes that will help us increase our online presence and brand awareness that will hopefully translate to increased sales. We are open to discussion around some of the project goals/ specifics.

Website Development
We are hoping to revamp aspects of our website and specifically our online store to make it easier for people to buy Cafe Etico Products online. Project Goals: Review our current website content and design and provide feedback. Redesign the online store so it's easier to navigate and streamline the payment methods with our current operating system. Add organic certifications & documentation to website. Review shipping policies/options. Best shipping practices. Additional changes as required. We are happy enough with most aspects of our website as well as that of our website host. The website was redesigned less than two years ago so while we're not looking for a total redesign and overhaul there are a few changes we'd be happy to see that are a bit out of the scope of our current abilities. The difficulty is that with our limited resources (staffing, knowledge, funds, etc.) changes to the website can be challenging and often time consuming.
