Surveying Pilot, Updates, and Recommendations

PROJECT SCOPE Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is looking for a team of students to create surveys using the surveying plan using standard templates, conduct pilot surveys, gage response, and make recommendations to the existing plan about incentives Students would have the opportunity to - Create Qualtrics surveys to address these weak points, specifically within the following areas: Career Centre programming and modules; Career Services; Hard skill development such as comfort with MS Office Suite, Qualtrics, Python, Stata, etc.; Graduation exit surveys - Standardize and document each survey, in compliance with UBC and Career Centre’s privacy policies - Conduct preliminary pilot surveys to test the response rate of the survey - Analyze response rates and types of answers for each pilot survey conducted - Use this analysis to make recommendations about how to incentivize students and past alumni being surveyed to increase overall response rates - Update surveying plan strategy to reflect any recommendations to be made after conducting pilot surveys - Communicate regularly with the Director and VSE Career Centre staff via email, in-person and by phone, in a professional manner - Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss updates and ongoing activities with the VSE Career Centre Director - Communicate key learnings, takeaways, and insights through debriefs, summary reports, and weekly meetings as well as through updates to the Data Tracking and Reporting Analyst transition manual - Other duties as required We’re Looking for Someone Like You If: - You have a passion for research and operations analysis - You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment - You have an affinity for project-based work and are able to work independently and in a team - You have excellent organizational, time management and communications (oral and written) skills - You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment Must Haves Skills/knowledge - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Previous experience with data collection and analysis - Intermediate knowledge of coding and automating processes - Previous experience with Qualtrics is an asset - Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as an eagerness to learn - Ability to deal with a diversity of internal stakeholders in a calm, courteous, and effective manner, utilizing strong business acumen - Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas - Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person) - Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity - Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment - Previous experience conducting research and developing comprehensive research reports (asset) - Previous experience working with a Career Centre / Coaching field (asset) - Must be able to work up to 20 hours a week Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Long Term Growth Plan

No of positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope The Career Centre is seeking students that are interested in helping to conceptualize and develop a series of long-term strategies to help systemically integrate inclusion into our operations and services. Students will have the opportunity to: · Analyze the current state of affairs of DEI initiatives at UBC · Create an initial long-term growth strategy report that suggests methods to integrate DEI principles into the VSE Career Centre, and ultimately involve other faculties to encourage integration into both the BIE as well as UBC curriculum · Interview and survey domestic and international BIE students to gain insights and a clear perspective on the issues students face in their daily life · Liaise and work with other DEI student-run organizations at the university, as well as with other faculties, staff, and professors to gain a better understanding of their perspective on DEI · Write a final DEI report that includes recommendations on the steps to take moving forward in the path to make DEI principles an integral part of UBC’s university culture We’re looking for someone like you if: · You are passionate about researching, understanding, and promoting DEI · You are excited about engaging with other community members who are also passionate about DEI · You have a pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoy initiating new projects · You are a strategic thinker with the ability to formulate and develop a bigger picture perspective · You have the ability to initiate and build strong relationships with all diverse stakeholders · You are sensitive to the current social and political environment surrounding DEI Qualifications: · Excellent written communication skills in writing reports · Ability to research, survey, and consolidate and analyze data · Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to analyze and present findings · Self-motivated and driven with project management experience · Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen · Previous experience working with diversity, equity, and inclusion preferred Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
