Co-president
uOttawa Legal Hackers
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
March 2024 - Current

uOttawa Legal Hackers is the first student-run group in Ottawa originating from the sister organization New York Legal Hackers. The club empowers individuals with similar interests through the fields of law, politics, technology, and business. By connecting likeminded people through workshops, "hacking" competitions, and roundtable discussions. I am implicated in all club operations from outreach to club funding. I oversee a team of 6 other executive club members, ensuring that tasks are clearly outlined and goals are met. Oftentimes, I have to proofread and edit all materials in both English and French to ensure that the material aligns with club constitution. This makes me the perfect candidate with impeccable time management skills; my role as co-president has taught me to flexible with event changes, but to stay organized. Fluent in creating compelling presentations that captivate the right target audience.

Legal intern
Haloo.ai
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
November 2023 - April 2024

Haloo.ai is a SAAS that uses cutting edge technology to conduct intensive trademark searches and create watchlists on national and international brands. As a legal intern, I conducted intensive research on competitor research and gained professional insight on trademarks, copyright and patent laws as well as procedures. I also user-tested Haloo.ai for trademark searches, making me very familiar with SAAS platforms and well suited to analyze user and company data. I often have to use resources such as WIPO and CIPO to conduct trademark and copyright searches. Haloo.ai's company is located in Toronto, but I worked remotely in Ottawa whilst providing them with the on time deliverables.

Administrative assistant
Trudel Law Office
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
July 2022 - Current

As an administrative assistant at TLO, I work directly under the lawyer Roger Trudel. My main responsibilities include filing court documents and legal pleadings as well as manage office expectations. As a senior worker, I created on-boarding training videos for new co-op students and fellow colleagues on administrative and document drafting tasks, demonstrating my profound experience and understanding of commercial and contractual agreements. I manage client correspondence by providing legal information to client inquiries and handle sensitive case information with professionalism and confidentiality. Planning and performing the outlines and looking after data retrieval (eg, data scraping) and analysis (eg, big data analysis) using existing tools and methods.

Panel pré-droit: Astuces pour la première année en Common Law // Pre-Law Panel: Tips for Your First Year in Common Law (French)
July 2024 - July 2024
https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasminejin/

This summer, I helped bring to life a pre-law panel in French for all students that plan to attend the University of Ottawa at the French Common Law faculty. In so doing, I was able to:
- Collaborate with two other co-organizers to maximize the success of the event
- Utilize my professional network in order to sign on panelists and promotional partners
- Set up and manage the event's Instagram account, largely through designing promotional posts and responding to participants via Direct Message
- Experiment with modern technologies such as LinkTree and Slido to elevate the participant experience.
