The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival

Description

The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival ("GVFTF") is Canada's largest roaming food truck festival. The GVFTF consists of a wide selection of food trucks, local market makers and creators, live entertainment and so much more. We are a for-profit organization that relies on vendor fees and sponsorships to bring these events to your favourite local communities at no cost, or minimal cost, to the public.

At the GVFTF we believe in bringing the community together to support the amazing local businesses within it. Guests have the ability to try food trucks they may have never eaten from before, or they can also shop local businesses in the BC Shop Local market. They can also sit and enjoy local talent from BC's incredible entertainers. We strive to provide value through experiences that are unique to our festival that make guests want to come back for more.

The GVFTF is also a local small business co-owned by two KPU school of business grads.

Front & Backend Website Development For Food Truck Festival

About Us & The Project: The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is a community-focused event company that brings together BC's best food trucks, artisan market vendors, and live entertainers for a series of weekend festivals! We are in the planning stages of our 2023 events and we are looking for students to help us update our existing WordPress website. We would like to improve both the front and back ends of the site. The front end of our website serves many important purposes. Firstly, marketing the events is critical to their success, we currently use Modern Events Calendar. We also collect booking requests from the public and facilitate the bookings for them. Lastly, we use the site to advertise and promote sponsorship for the events. We also would like to develop the back end of the site to create the option for our vendors to use a portal to register for upcoming events and apply directly through internal listings and possibly send invoices or collect payment through the site.

We are a small but mighty team of four looking to level up our business and grow our team in 2022. Our Current Challenge: We are in the planning stages of our 2022 events and we are looking for students to help us curate our marketing plan. Marketing the events is critical to their success. We want to deliver consistent brand messaging while considering the different demographics within each of the communities we serve. Our goal at the end of this experience is: Branding and Marketing Communications - help us improve our brand's presence and capture greater market share. Market Research - help us gain a better understanding of our target market and ensure we are optimally positioned and our product and pricing align with our target sector/customer. Public Relations - help us effectively communicate our brand's story and mission to a broad audience. Prospecting Strategy - help us implement better prospecting that increases conversion rates and boosts our sales team's performance. SEO Strategy & Recommendations - help us generate more traffic and revenue through search engines. Strategic Social Media Marketing - help us improve our online presence, reach more customers, and effectively promote our brand through compelling content. Other duties the student may complete could include : Assist with outbound email marketing campaigns as needed; measure and report on the performance of these campaigns using tools such as (indicate tools used, eg. Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Excel, Canva) Content development, including social posts, blog posts, LinkedIn articles, and website copy.

Social Enterprise B-Corporation Certification Plan

To achieve B-Corporation certification, the Greate Vancouver Food Truck Festival must receive a minimum score on social and environmental performance. This is an online assessment that is overseen by the independent body that certifies B-Corporations (the B Lab). The assessment covers our entire operations and measures our impact in governance, workers, community, the environment, as well as our products and services. We also must integrate sustainability commitments to stakeholders into our governing documents. Project focus should include: The benefits of registering the company as a B-corp. An assessment of our current score, which will allow us to identify our areas for improvement. A strategy plan, based on the score assessment, that identifies the areas in which we need to improve performance to achieve the threshold score for B-Corporation certification.
