Players make multiple concurrent decisions in rounds like in real life. Through the games, debrief discussions and other activities, participants quickly and effectively gain distinctions on strategies for financial success. The game uses a cross-platform application on the PC, iOS, Mac and Android, and is developed in Unity. It is played in rounds with decisions about income, expenses, assets, debts, and emergencies. There are multiple scenarios and increasing levels of complexity. A new function is required for purchasing a house. The functions are standalone components that are accessed when selected in the game. The new designs must start with the "Candy Crush for financial education" simplicity while adding the complexity needed to thoroughly cover the functions. .

Financial Game and Workshops - Develop Investment Content

MentaMorph Money is a financial game with workshops that helps users better understand how to practice making financial and life decisions. “Make your financial mistakes here, so they don’t cost you in the real world.” The game is projected to be ready in the Fall and will be used in eight workshop modules. The plan in Phase 2 is to convert the workshop content into Help content within the game in order to make the game a standalone game. That's what this project is about. The MentaMorph game provides players with income, expenses, assets, debt, and real life situations like emergencies. The rules are simple: each round or week has real life needs and expectations to fulfill and the goal is to use the income and assets earned to survive and thrive. Mimicking real life financial situations, this game is not only fun but educational. Scenarios will be created for virtually any audience. The tree farm scenario in the video is one example. The education version uses symbols of circles, squares etc as shown in the sample education module's slides. The Help is expected to use the symbols-based structure. Each scenario also includes investment choices. For instance, the very first game includes a low volatility stock, high volality stock and mutual fund. This project is about coming up with multiple investment profiles to be incorporated into the game.

Experience has shown the game has been effective for middle school and high school level students as well as adults 18 years and older. That's its strength, but also its challenge.
