Federal Budget Review: Progress on CanAge’s Senior Care Recommendations
The main goal of this project is to evaluate how well Canada’s federal budgets from the past five years align with the policy recommendations made by CanAge’s Senior VOICES report. By reviewing and comparing the federal budgets to CanAge’s recommendations, the project aims to measure the government’s progress in addressing senior care and inform future advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.

Investment Case for Violence Prevention
The Safe & Healthy Communities section at the City of Edmonton seeks to develop a compelling investment case to highlight the social and economic benefits of enhanced violence prevention initiatives. The project aims to quantify the potential returns on investment by analyzing existing data and case studies related to violence prevention. Learners will apply their knowledge of social sciences, economics, and public policy to assess the impact of violence prevention programs on community well-being and economic stability. The project will involve identifying key metrics, evaluating current investment levels, and projecting the outcomes of increased funding. By doing so, the project will provide evidence-based recommendations to support policy decisions and funding allocations for violence prevention strategies.
Constituency Services and Legislative Support
During the placement with the Edmonton-Mill Woods constituency office, the student will support the daily operations of the office of MLA Christina Gray. The role will involve assisting with administrative duties, engaging in community outreach efforts, conducting research on local and provincial matters, and contributing to communications and public engagement initiatives. This placement offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in a political environment and to develop a deeper understanding of the functions of a constituency office and the responsibilities of an elected official.
