Virtual Internship: Business Administration (Information Systems)
Our organization, Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. (OSF) is a vertically integrated agricultural biotechnology company. We are offering a virtual internship opportunity for 1 business student. Disclaimer: Any successful applicant must be prepared to satisfy the following requirements: Statement of Work (SOW) - Intern will need to sign a document outlining the Statement of Work (length of internship, key responsibilities, etc.). As Confidential Business Information (CBI) will be shared, a comprehensive non-disclosure agreement (NDA) will also be included in this agreement, and any other individuals they will need to collaborate with (e.g., professor) may also be required to sign an NDA as well. Background Check - Opportunity will be dependent on the successful completion of a basic criminal record check with no concerns identified. References - Intern will provide a list of at least 2 professional and/or academic character references that OSF may contact. The primary focus for the student will be: Working with our Product & Special Projects Manager to enhance our Information Systems, especially our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform. This project, and other related projects, will touch on numerous ares of our business, helping build valuable experience for the qualified intern. Strategy - Develop an implementation plan for improvements to various operating procedures for our CRM and other information systems, including ideation sessions with our Special Projects Manager and other team members. Proactive strategies to further enhance our systems and approaches will be strongly encouraged. Sales - Analyze our existing sales accounts, contacts and leads, including generation of comprehensive reports, developing our Lead Scoring system and applying it to a wide range of industry segments, etc. Marketing - Review the marketing tools at our company's disposal through our software platforms and develop proposals for effective outreach to distinct industry segments. Human Resources - Utilize HR platforms to develop company-specific templates and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to assist our HR Manager on projects just as time sheet coordination, HR document creation and management, etc. Our goal at the end of this experience is: To have a more robust, efficient set of information system management platforms, templates, SOPs and a higher quality of data to work with. Other duties the student may complete could include : (indicate other duties as exemplified below) Conduct research and data analysis. Create presentation decks and assist with presentations to key stakeholders. Since first proving that developing nonbrowning apples was possible, OSF has conducted a wide range of consumer and market research initiatives. From 2007 to present, OSF has carried out: Industry surveys Online consumer questionnaires Focus groups Taste test comparisons The goals of these research initiatives were to analysis everything from market interest in nonbrowning apples, to sensory data on product taste/texture/etc., to soliciting feedback on packaging and messaging. The goal of this project is for students to analyze all research conducted to date, along with other pertinent materials (e.g., product packaging, infographics, sales collateral) and provide key conclusions and recommendations about what the research, when analyzed cumulatively can tell OSF about ideal market segments, packaging approaches, marketing strategy, etc.
