Bio

I started a consulting and technology business over 30 years ago, and after the first 15 years, I began shifting from serving businesses to helping communities address complex social challenges. Our core strength is in co-creating and managing the implementation of multi-stakeholder strategies for "collective impact." This short video is a good introduction: https://vimeo.com/473173526/56a41967a6

Building Action Tools for Creating Trauma-Informed, Restorative Schools

This Project has a $250 honorarium on top of the $1400 stipend paid by the Level Up program. We have a team that is working to create a set of information and tools to help a wide range of sectors and organizations adopt trauma-informed and restorative practices to better minimize and address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The 7-minute video gives an introduction to the general space and our approach to helping communities develop and implement strategies on these topics. We're trying to make it easy for busy stakeholders in multiple cities to adopt good practices. https://vimeo.com/466446981/a8e152dc6d These two short videos give a tour of the ACEs & Resilience Resource Commons for Communities (ARRCC) and the ARRCC wiki. Part 1: 14 minutes https://vimeo.com/663952922/8e4bd1991d Part 2: 9 minutes https://vimeo.com/664037880/b947a74e49 We're working with the authors of the book, "Building a Trauma-Informed Restorative School" to help make some of the content from his book more actionable for school leaders. https://www.joebrummer.com/book/ There may be other things you can work on as we start an 8-month coaching program (which we will give you free access to). https://www.insightformation.com/2022arrccan We have a person who is very experienced in restorative practices that will review the summary content and tools that you create. You'll start by spending about 10 hours going through training on strategy management principles and techniques so you can have that in yiour head as you strive to draw out specific content from the book. (We'll also point you to other resources that will also be combined with content from this book.) You can also spend about 10 hours going through content from the 2021 ARRCC Action Network recordings. You will also be learning how to add topics, content, and links to a wiki built using the Media Wiki platform. We also can provide many different tools you might use to communicate some of these concepts--such as Doodly or Toonly videos or use other tools for social media posts or flyers. If you want, you can spend some time working on social media content that communities might use to raise awareness or understanding on these topics.

Social Media Support for the Housing Solution Summit

Positions available: 1 I'm looking for someone to work with a team of 4-6 students (a separate project) to work on this, with flexible timing to fit around finals. The Housing Solution Summit www.HousingSolutionSummit.com is a new collaborative effort to address the many facets of the housing crisis--skyrocketing rents, evictions, foreclosures, homelessness, and the growing lack of housing that is affordable. We have assembled an amazing group of speakers, but have not done enough to promote the event. We just set up new Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn profiles, and we may add a few more -- like TikTok or others. We have a great graphics person, and we've got licensing for many cool digital marketing tools. The main event is May 12 and 13, so we want to do a lot quickly, but there will be additional virtual summits that will follow--so we're also building a brand and followers on Social Media for the long run. Many of our speakers have a lot of followers on social media accounts like Twitter and lots of links on LinkedIn, but they are very busy. We want to make it very easy for them to promote the event. We're also doing a lot of email marketing and marketing automation using a variety of tools. We've gathered a lot of lists for targeted groups that should be very interested in different aspects of the housing crisis, and we'd like to create targeted email messaging for those various audiences. We have tools like Active Campaign, Connect365, Dubb, etc.

Review, Refine & Summarize Content for a Virtual Summit on the Housing Crisis

This is a flexible project for a team of up to 12 students that can be from 5 to 30 hours per week. The work is quite independent, so the team is largely a group of students doing similar things in parallel. The Housing Solution Summit is a cutting-edge Virtual Summit with over 80 sessions on ways to address the many facets of the housing crisis. Most of the sessions are pre-recorded, often with videos that blend content from past webinars, prior virtual summits, Q&A sessions and their existing video content. Sessions range from about 20 minutes to 59 minutes long and are on Vimeo as private videos. The content is very interesting if you care about housing, poverty, justice, economics, and such. It helps to generate hope because it focuses on solutions. Students would pick a cluster of sessions on a similar topic and do the following Create a high-level outline of the presentation with time-stamps on the different sections. (For internal use) Make notes, with time stamps of any recommended editing (e.g. a reference to President Trump or the "upcoming election" might be good to edit out, since that would make the presentation seem old. Also identify any promotion of events (such as the November 2020 summit) that should be edited out (with time stamps). Do simple video editing (zoom, pan, delete out the "umm" and "Can you hear me OK now?" content that is not valuable. Also, making suggestions on low-value segments that might be cut out or high-value parts of the Q&A that might be merged into a presentation. Help create a description (or suggest refinements to the current description or title) Find short clips that can be used for social media Create a 2-page summary of the talk for people who are interested in the topic but too busy to listen to the session. We're planning on migrating much of this content from the Housing Solution Summit into a big, flexible eLearning platform so people can easily access the information they need in the months and years after this event. This work will help prepare for that. We have a computer-generated transcript for each session. If time allows, those can be cleaned up, adding a few PowerPoint slide images, to be an added resource for participants. Once the project is over, there may be contract opportunities to continue to work on this type of content.
