Learners will work individually, and dedicate up to 70 hours of placement time over the course of 3 months, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students are capable of completing Project work independently, and will require direction and moderate supervision. What can our students do for your organisation? Students can contribute in a variety of ways. Students, individually or in groups, can be involved in a wide range of tasks and/or projects depending on the skills and competencies they have developed in their undergraduate studies so far. See students’ skills and competencies below. · Students can take and complete work-based activities online/remotely Mon through Fri. NB Students may not be available for work-based learning activities when they are attending classes or working in paid jobs. · Students can work for 30 hours (at a time convenient to both organisations and students) · The window for students to participate in work-based activities is approximately between Monday 26th February and Monday 22nd April 2024. NB. Please note that during the Easter break [from 25th March to 7th April] students might not be available for work. FOOD/NUTRITION PROJECT – EMPOWERING LONDON (UK) - WL6W50

This module has been developed to allow students to work intensively with a London community project/organisation in order to identify (in partnership with them) a challenge they are faced with and work towards positively addressing this challenge This innovative module is an exciting opportunity to work at a grass-roots level to effect change and to learn about the key issues currently affecting London and other large cities. Student is to find ideally food/nutrition-based work experience/project/placement that is in flexible part-time remote or hybrid mode and students are required to complete 40 -70 hours by mid April 2024 latest. Student will propose prospective work experience to their module leader who will approve it as suitable based on compliance with the Empowering London Work Based Learning module objectives in the areas of social wealth; the environment; discrimination; health; poverty and deprivation and crime. The module is designed to enhance students’ wider personal and professional development. It will facilitate application and progression of knowledge gained in their studies and wider life experience. The module includes values-driven, professional training and work experience to assist in preparing student for their future careers. Through work based practice, student will positively contribute to a key part of the London Metropolitan University’s Strategic agenda, addressing current social and economic issues facing London communities. This unique module allows student to be challenged by contributing to current, real world projects, working with the University and students from other professional disciplines to make a positive difference to society. This could include working with communities and organisations towards programmes aiming to address collective identity and civic agency in neighbourhoods. Student will work individually or in teams, in partnership with community institutions to support the activities of one of London Met’s strategic priorities - the Empowering London initiative. Students' practice will positively contribute to addressing the challenges facing London which impact everyone’s lives. The module aims to enable student to: ● Effectively express and understand their current skills and abilities in relation to their career values and goals ● Practically apply the knowledge gained through their nutrition course programme to a work/neighbourhood environment ● Make a positive contribution to the challenges of current social and economic issues facing London communities and consider these from national and global perspectives ● Gaining unique insight of current challenges facing cities in the areas of social wealth; the environment; discrimination; health; poverty and deprivation and crime and partner with community institution to design potential solutions ● Gain understanding and direct experience of the graduate level skills, knowledge and insights required for inclusive practice and problem resolution within institutions to enable you to become an inclusive leader in society ● Recognise students’ personal and professional development through their work based practice and how to apply the experience and knowledge gain to their future goals.

Computing and Digital Media Placements

This work placement allows students to put their theoretical skills into practice within your company. It constitutes a structured period of work-based learning which has been shown to help undergraduate students develop a wide range of technical work-related skills such as Network design and configuration, Penetration testing, system analysis, Data design, full-stack development, app development, Intranet system development, writing e-documentation and system testing. In addition, students are given the opportunity to develop their professional competence in a working environment, benefiting from mentoring and support from experienced professionals. Students are available for up to 110 hours starting November till the end of January 2022. This is an unpaid for-credit experience.
Virtual Interns in Public Health - Nutrition

Virtual Internship Opportunity Bring on one or more students from London Metropolitan University in the Human Nutrition to be your virtual interns, in a public health project-based experience. Student/s will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students are available for full-time hours 35-40 hours per week for the period from 6th September to 26 September 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.

The media work based learning module aims to prepare students for a career in the media industry. The WBL module enables students to develop employability skills and competencies, understand the nature of work, and work toward developing a portfolio of skills and competencies to facilitate the transition into graduate level employment. Students are encouraged to develop media practice in a variety of areas. They engage in media design practices, video making and production, digital photography and editing, journalistic writing, digital media design and media research among other things. Students develop practical, industry-valued skills on professional-standard equipment and expand their capacity for creativity and innovation.
