My name is Paul Butland, and I live in Kamloops, British Columbia. I am a part-time student at Thompson Rivers University, working toward a degree in Communications while also holding Co-op positions through TRU. Writing is my passion, and I strongly advocate for the arts and humanities. I take pride in maintaining a perfect GPA of 4.0. Additionally, I have written several articles for online magazines and possess over four years of customer service experience, mainly in the retail sector.
I enjoy writing, drawing, music, karate and reading. I also enjoy outdoor activities, which is one of the reasons I love living in Kamloops.

We are looking for assistance in finding and completing grant applications that support our mission and vision statement. We believe this project will include: Comprehensive grant and funding searching and of applications to enable our organization to achieve it's current objectives. Develop a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding. Identify potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project. Interpret a request for proposal (RFP). Improve the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing. Collaborate with the team and Executive director on partnerships and documentation Track successful grants and funds while also ensuring that grant submission deadlines and requirements are met

Rocky Mountaineer Organizational Enhancement Initiative
This project aims to enhance Rocky Mountaineer's internal processes and external branding to align with industry standards and improve organizational efficiency. The project is divided into four main components: developing a structured grant application process, updating People and Culture policies, supporting the Talent Acquisition document management, and data collection for the Internal Communications function. The grant program component involves researching and creating a comprehensive grant application process for company-wide use. The People and Culture segment focuses on reviewing and updating internal employee policies, particularly the Harassment policy, to ensure compliance with the Canada Labour Code. The Talent Acquisition component supports document management and administrative duties in preparation for the high volume recruiting of the seasonal workforce. The Internal Communications project includes data collection deliverables from interviews and sustainability interviews with internal team members.. This project provides learners with the opportunity to apply research, analysis, and strategic planning skills acquired in their academic program.

Streamlining Talent Acquisition and Enhancing Employer Branding
Rocky Mountaineer seeks to optimize its talent acquisition processes and strengthen its employer brand, particularly in Kamloops and other smaller operational locations. The project focuses on improving the efficiency of high-volume seasonal hiring, a critical aspect for the Talent Acquisition team. By aligning internal processes with industry standards, the project aims to enhance organizational efficiency and ensure a seamless recruitment experience. Additionally, the project will explore strategies to expand the company's employer branding, making it more appealing to potential candidates in targeted regions. The ultimate goal is to create a more efficient, attractive, and competitive hiring process that supports Rocky Mountaineer's growth and operational needs. - Analyze current talent acquisition processes and identify areas for improvement. - Research industry standards and best practices for high-volume seasonal hiring. - Develop strategies to enhance employer branding in Kamloops and smaller locations. - Propose actionable recommendations to streamline recruitment processes.

I am currently in a paid, 14-week Co-op role at Rocky Mountaineer, where I'm gaining hands-on experience across various business areas. My responsibilities include conducting research, collecting data, and analyzing targeted projects. I also generate insights and formulate recommendations for clients. Working with subject matter experts allows me to create effective solutions. Through collaboration with my team, I engage with business leaders and gain valuable perspectives on current practices. I also cooperate with multiple sub-functions and closely work with practitioners on cross-functional initiatives. At the conclusion of the project, I will compile a project report and share my findings.
