Front & Backend Website Development For Food Truck Festival
About Us & The Project: The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is a community-focused event company that brings together BC's best food trucks, artisan market vendors, and live entertainers for a series of weekend festivals! We are in the planning stages of our 2023 events and we are looking for students to help us update our existing WordPress website. We would like to improve both the front and back ends of the site. The front end of our website serves many important purposes. Firstly, marketing the events is critical to their success, we currently use Modern Events Calendar. We also collect booking requests from the public and facilitate the bookings for them. Lastly, we use the site to advertise and promote sponsorship for the events. We also would like to develop the back end of the site to create the option for our vendors to use a portal to register for upcoming events and apply directly through internal listings and possibly send invoices or collect payment through the site.
Restaurant, Catering & Events Consultant
Who We Are: The Wack Kitchen is an in-house, takeout and delivery restaurant that offers consumers multiple virtual restaurant brands. Our company believes the winning formula for success is a combination of great food, service and people. Our Challenge/Opportunity Located inside a golf course off a major highway in BC, the restaurant has a unique view & atmosphere that competing downtown restaurants do not have. While this has the potential to be a competitive advantage, currently it is a challenge. The off the beaten path location requires The Wack to become a destination for guests, very rarely does a customer walk through the door because they just drove by. While this was not a challenge when operating solely as a virtual kitchen using 3rd party delivery apps, with dine-in service now open it is critical to drive traffic through the doors. Student Focus Areas & Deliverables Strategy - Developing a strategy to increase the current in-house dining & develop a go-to-market strategy for securing event bookings and catering contracts. Operations - Recommend process improvements or redesign processes; develop improvements to supply chain processes to be more responsive to changes in demand; introduce quality assurance into our internal processes; redesign incentive structures to improve employee performance and engagement. Marketing - Complete a full customer, competitor, market, and environmental analysis; complete a marketing strategy review; design a new marketing strategy (product, place, price, and promotion); conduct an overhaul of our branding or communication strategy. Sales - Design a new/improved prospecting process for our sales team; design a new/improved pricing or service structure to help us roll out better prospecting that increases conversion rates and boosts our sales team's performance. Talent - Design a new/improved recruitment process; develop a diversity and inclusion strategy; design a new/improved employee engagement program with survey mechanisms. Finance - Design new/improved accounting processes; identify opportunities to help us streamline costs. Other duties the student may complete could include : Conduct research and data analysis. Create presentation decks and assist with presentations to key stakeholders. We will plan to communicate with our virtual intern using these communication tools: Riipen messaging, company email, company messaging group on Whatsapp Student's primary contact : Kathleen King, co-owner Secondary contact: Chase Reilly, Head Chef

Who we are: The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival is a community-focused event company that brings together BC's best food trucks, artisan market vendors and live entertainers for a series of weekend festivals! We are a small but mighty team of four looking to level up our business and grow our team in 2022. Our Current Challenge: We are in the planning stages of our 2022 events and we are looking for students to help us curate our marketing plan. Marketing the events is critical to their success. Simply put, we need people to know who we are targeting and how to let them know what's happening in their communities. We also believe in giving the community the greatest experience for the best value - collecting and interpreting their feedback is essential. Our Desired Outcome: At the end of the project, we are looking for a solid marketing plan that we can use to launch the events as well as a guide to assist us in the lead-up, during and post-event process. We want to deliver consistent brand messaging while considering the different demographics within each of the communities we serve. Our goal at the end of this experience is: Branding and Marketing Communications - help us improve our brand's presence and capture greater market share. Market Research - help us gain a better understanding of our target market and ensure we are optimally positioned and our product and pricing align with our target sector/customer. Public Relations - help us effectively communicate our brand's story and mission to a broad audience. Prospecting Strategy - help us implement better prospecting that increases conversion rates and boosts our sales team's performance. SEO Strategy & Recommendations - help us generate more traffic and revenue through search engines. Strategic Social Media Marketing - help us improve our online presence, reach more customers, and effectively promote our brand through compelling content. Other duties the student may complete could include : Assist with outbound email marketing campaigns as needed; measure and report on the performance of these campaigns using tools such as (indicate tools used, eg. Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Excel, Canva) Content development, including social posts, blog posts, LinkedIn articles, and website copy.
Social Enterprise B-Corporation Certification Plan
To achieve B-Corporation certification, the Greate Vancouver Food Truck Festival must receive a minimum score on social and environmental performance. This is an online assessment that is overseen by the independent body that certifies B-Corporations (the B Lab). The assessment covers our entire operations and measures our impact in governance, workers, community, the environment, as well as our products and services. We also must integrate sustainability commitments to stakeholders into our governing documents. Project focus should include: The benefits of registering the company as a B-corp. An assessment of our current score, which will allow us to identify our areas for improvement. A strategy plan, based on the score assessment, that identifies the areas in which we need to improve performance to achieve the threshold score for B-Corporation certification.
