Digital Marketing Strategy - Facebook
Level Up - We want a team of 3 students for 240 hours, to help us develop a digital marketing strategy to grow and engage our target market. We want to create a plan, and calendar for a year, for at least one of our social media platforms, Facebook. We’d like to know how we can maximize different channels and what will work best for us. The main questions we’d like students to help us answer are the following: Plan a year long calendar of events, and special days to connect with on FB. How can we use the FB groups to build community in our organization? What budget is appropriate for advertising? What kinds of posts can we create from our existing website content to promote our speakers?
Indigenous Engagement Sheets
LEVEL UP Project - or classroom project. 3 students required for 240 hours of work on the first phase of this project. Project: Create Indigenous Engagement Sheets for the first 20 of our speakers. Indigenous Engagement Sheets are created for each speaker based on their unique message and the content of their indigenous perspective. This requires research and an understanding of the TRC’s Calls to Action specific to each speaker’s presentation. Students will receive Indigenous Awareness Education, and shown examples of the product. They will have to research, format, write, and engage with each speaker to ensure that the engagement sheet captures the main ideas. Goals: to create a full set of Indigenous Engagement Sheets for the first group of speakers. Skills Requirement: research, formatting, interview and listening skills, as well as a willingness to be creative and learn about the TRC’s Calls to Action. A good understanding of social media and other action orientated campaigns would also be advantageous.
Work experience
Summer Intern
International Indigenous Speakers Bureau
May 2021 - September 2021
I started working with the International Indigenous Bureau through Riipen, and after working on a couple of projects through Riipen's intern program, I was hired as an intern at IISB.
I started working on building IISB's social media platforms, focusing on gaining followers, engaging with speakers and Indigenous communities around the world.
My last project with the speakers bureau was a researched-based project where I developed engagement sheets to be used when following up on a speaker's presentation.
This included:
- Approximately 30 speakers, 2 engagement sheets per speaker, 12 resources per page
- Each speaker has their own personal knowledge that they choose to share, this could be topics such as Residential Schools, 60's Scoop, their culture, and much more. Each engagement sheet was customized to suit the individual speaker.
- The pages focused on resources that included videos, organization links, suggestions and reading material in order to engage individuals in educating themselves
Focusing on communications, I became more educated on the importance of language, and the impact that my words have.
