

LGS Work Experience Coordinator
Local Grown Salads is committed to Riipen. We have worked with over a dozen universities and 200 students. We work in four different ways: Project Leadership Role - These are Interns who commit a minimum of 12 weeks. full time.. Typically part of a course requirement. Assignment - The students work in a group under the direction of a Professor. The work will be in class or independent. This may be highly interactive with Local Grown Salads or just a few meetings. Part Time - These are interns who work with us a 10 or so hours a week. We will put them on teams or provide specific deliverables. Consultancy- These projects are intended to be like consulting assignments. We provide an outline of what is needed, we meet once, and then Local Grown Salads receives a report. Research - These are research driven projects that are intended for professors who want to publish a paper. We are looking for a Full Time Intern who can coordinate our Student Experience program. Lean Startup Business Strategy Development
We want to simplify our product development and operational processes to make our business model more “lean” and reactive to customer feedback. The focus of this project should be on clearly identifying the root problems that are increasing time and cost allocations across our operations and suggesting actionable solutions. Students should focus on: Mapping our operational processes. Identifying bottlenecks in our systems. Recommending improvements to optimize our organization. We hope to implement changes that will help us reduce costs and accelerate innovation for several new products we are rolling out in the next year.
CRM Security Model
Our agency is deploying a new CRM system and requires a security model to protect our data’s integrity and privacy, as well as support efficient data access and use. We seek to combine role-based security, record-level security and field-level security to define the overall security rights of users within our system. The project: The candidate or team will create a security model that organizes users by roles and responsibilities (or tasks performed) and accompanying sets of privileges/access. These privileges by role must be predefined, with aggregates related to sets of users simplifying security management. The main feature is a QR Code scan of a particular product. Once Scanned the consumer will have the product registered for recall purposes. The consumer can check its best before date. The consumer will be able to access information about the product such as recipes and nutritional information. We also want the consumer to receive a coupon for savings and other information. We want stored in our Cloud DB, the date/time/location of the QR Code for tracking purposes. The tracking data must be anonymous. 2) Retailer App - Allows a retailer to receive a carton. Check its recall status and shelf life. Access to marketing material to help sell the product. It will be driven by the QR Code. We want the date/time/location scan data to be stored on our server. 3) Distributor App - Allows a Distributor to inform us when they have received and delivered a carton. Check its recall status and expected shelf life. It will be driven by the QR Code. We want the date/time/location scan data to be stored on our server. 4) Food Server App - Allows a Restaurant to inform us when they have received a Carton. Check its recall status and expected shelf life. It will be driven by the QR Code. We want the date/time/location scan data to be stored on our server. The Chef will have access to recipes. Other features will be added as needed. The apps must run on Android and IOS. Students will be provided with a video and source files of our previous designs. These are then used to create the new design facilities. From these drawing, we want to use it to place the equipment in our facilities, create walk-ins, marketing and potentially other beneficial uses. Food Safety Plan
PROJECT SCOPE Number of positions available: One or more teams with one or more students We are creating several food safety plans for the GAP, GMP, and GHP. 1) Our equipment manufacturing. We produce the equipment and the consumables used for the Growing of microgreens, herbs, greens, and small vegetables. This is referred to as LGS Assembly Food Safety 2) The creation of the LGS Standard Food Safety Plan Template that will be modified for the Specific Farm. Much of what each farm does is consistently and the same way. What changes from Farm to Farm is the physical layout of the location, the number of employees, and similar details. We want the LGS Food Safety Plan Template to be updated for each specific Farm. This is the plan and documents to enable us to received certification. 3) An implementation of the LGS Standard Food Safety Plan Template for our Farm in Philadelphia. 4) An implementation of the LGS Standard Food Safety Plan Template for a Farm in South Carolina.
Project Management Office
Number of positions available: One or more teams with one or more students We have a project management office. This office is responsible for coordinating and managing different projects/teams within our firm, with the potential to become a "Team Lead" responsible for the whole project management office. Within our vertical farm, we are constantly developing ourselves and our products. Exemplary projects are coding, marketing, food safety, food research. These projects have team leaders, but there needs to be cohesion between different teams/projects. This is where the projects management office steps in. You would be responsible for overseeing these projects/teams, ensuring the projects go as planned and communicating between the projects/teams. As we work in versions, there is always work to be done. With new and improved versions coming in the next few weeks/months. The LGS Pavilon hardware is on an Arduino board with several features. An Arduino board is also used for other projects in which the boards communicate and linked with other tools. Due to this, our interns will be working together with various teams ranging from engineers to our science team. Giving them the whole perspective on how broad a company is. Along with a website, we are also going to create a wiki, for internal and external use. As we prefer to work in versions, so there is always work to be done With new and improved versions coming in the next few weeks/months. This will give the interns a base to start from. Then the interns are working on creating a new/improving the current website and adding a wiki. Due to this, our interns will be working together with a variety of teams to gather information for the website/wiki. Giving them a holistic perspective on how broad a firm is. We have 13 different subsystems: Network - Manages the entire Farm Network Assembly - An ERP system (extending Odoo) to manage the manufacturing Agronomist - Maintains our grow formulas and marketing materials Grower - A full analysis system to review all the farms AI - (Not currently available) Uses the data in Grower to create new grow formulas Gardner - Manages the hardware for the Vertical Acre according to the grow formula specifications Pavilion - Manages the HVAC system according to the grow formula specifications Germinator - Manages the hardware for the Incubator Barn - Manages the farm Farmer - An ERP system (extending Odoo) to manage the farm Inspector - Monitors the equipment and production Director - Provides an API to mobile applications and 3rd party software Customer Layer - Mobile/Web applications Distributor - applications for the distributor customers Consumer App = This app is intended to interact with a consumer of our products. Retailer App - For the retailer Food Server App - For the Restaurant The students will a) Work with our Marketing Team to develop and test a UX b) Work with our Data Architect to capture the relevant user data and store it in our DB c) Write the App code to implement the App specification. d) Be responsible for fixing any bugs. e) Ensure the App meets all technical requirements of the Android and Apple app stores. Salad Lab Design
Number of individual positions needed: 3 Background information: Local Grown Salads is an indoor vertical farming company. We have growing technology that we need to place in a grow room. The Salad Lab will hold 12 Grow Units, an office, manufacturing facility Main Objectives: The Grow Room needs to meet the following criteria: Approximately' 1,800 sf. 64 'x 28' Maximum 12' height Have positive air pressure Fire sprinkler system Power and water to the grow units Framing with Unistruct or comparable Indoor fire safety sprinkler system Power distribution internal to the room Water distribution to the room Placement of grow units Fuse box external to room which allows power hookup Single Water hookup for grow units Water hookuop for sprinkler system Ductless AC to the room Polycarb walls Air Curtain Main Deliverables: A full design include: Drawings 3D renderings 3D Walk through Bill of materials Suppliers Detailed costs We are looking into 3 different suppliers, so are looking to have 3 individual students complete this project. HAACP/SQF Design
Number of positions available: 1 team of 6 persons (mix of individual and teamwork) We are creating an Indoor Vertical Farming system We need to build a HACCP/SQF System (A separate project is the software implementation): We are looking for a team to build the process for HAACP standard. Initially we will be looking for a system for GAP GHP certification. This workflow will be the basis for an SQF certification. The system will integrate with our Quality Control and Operations system to a create a fully integrated system.
